FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS PRITZKER PRESCHOOL FOR ALL?
Pritzker Preschool for All is a free, ½ day preschool program that is located in Pritzker School. Preschool for All is a state-funded program in the public schools.
IS MY CHILD ELIGIBLE?
All children who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1 (of the school year they want to attend preschool) and are fully potty trained are eligible to apply. There isn’t any income, language, or residential requirements, other than residing in the city of Chicago.
HOW DO I APPLY? WHEN ARE APPLICATIONS DUE?
Applications are available now in the Pritzker School Main Office. All applications for the 2010 – 2011 school years are due December 18, 2009.
DO I HAVE TO LIVE WITHIN PRITZKER SCHOOL’S ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES?
No, there are no boundaries for the Preschool for All Program.
WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM MEET? WHAT IS THE STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO?
The morning session is from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and the afternoon session is from 12:45 p.m. – 3:15 pm. Currently, each session has one half of the year that attends on Fridays, while the other session has Fridays off for that semester. This schedule allows for preschool meetings and preparation time. The student-teacher ratio is 10:1; each session has 20 students, and there is a teacher and full time aide.
WHO IS THE CLASSROOM STAFF?
The teacher is Liz Russell, M. Ed., and the assistant is Paula O’Connor.
